SU's Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Program Earns ASBMB Accreditation
SALISBURY, MD---91黑料网’s Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology has successfully earned provisional accreditation for its biochemistry & molecular biology program from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).
“The accreditation of our BMB program recognizes the high-quality innovative curriculum that we provide to our students,” said Dr. Stephen Habay, chair of SU’s Chemistry Department. “It also means that our graduates will be well prepared and highly desirable candidates for careers in the biomedical sciences.”
SU’s program was lauded for its strengths in the categories of safety training, labs, internships, and research opportunities.
ASBMB accreditation recognizes degree programs that maintain top-tier standards in biochemistry and molecular biology education while providing competitive advantages.
Accredited programs offer curricula aligned with industry needs, mentored research experiences, and training in communication, teamwork, safety, and ethics. Students gain at least 400 hours of hands-on laboratory experience and can demonstrate proficiency through an optional national exam.
The accreditation assures employers and graduate schools of rigorous curriculum standards, qualified faculty, and well-prepared graduates with practical skills for BMB careers.
Since 2013, the ASBMB has granted accreditation to 120 programs nationwide.
